How to disassemble and clean the screw of a twin-screw extruder

Steps for removing screws from Twin screw extruder :

1. First heat the barrel to the residual material and molding temperature in the barrel;

2. After heating to the molding temperature, remove the machine head while it is hot, and clean the material at the barrel hole end and the screw end;

3. Turn off the power, remove the pressure and temperature measuring components and heater on the machine head;

4. Loosen the two sleeve couplings, and observe and remember the splines and marks at the tails of the two screws according to the type of set screws at the ends of the screw shafts;

5. Remove the two screw heads and set screws. Note that they are left-handed screws. Use special tools for screw removal to slowly pull out the two screws synchronously for a section, and use a copper wire brush or copper shovel to quickly remove the material on the surface of the screw while it is hot;

6. Pull out all the screws, lay them flat on a wooden board, remove the screw removal tool, remove and clean the screw elements while they are hot. If the material penetrates into the screw mandrel and makes it difficult to remove the screw elements, you can use a wooden hammer or copper rod to gently tap around the screw elements, and then remove the elements after loosening. If it is still difficult to remove, it must be put back into the barrel and heated. After the material is melted, it can be removed while hot.
