What is Toughened Glass: 

 

Toughened glass is a type of prestressed glass that creates compressive stress on the glass surface through chemical or physical methods, thereby improving the strength and safety of the glass. the surface of toughened glass has compressive stress, while tensile stress is formed inside. this structure allows the glass to better offset stress when it is subjected to external forces, thereby enhancing its resistance to wind pressure, cold and heat and impact. 

 

Manufacturing Processes for Toughened Glass: 

 

The manufacturing processes of toughened glass mainly includes the following steps: 

1. Cut:     

First, cut the regular glass sheet into the desired size, this step is to ensure that the dimension of final product meet the requirements. 

 

2. Edging and Cleaning:

Cut glass needs to be edged and cleaned to remove impurities and make the glass surface smoother. 

 

3. Tempering-Heating:

Put the treated glass into the tempering furnace for heating, usually to a temperature near softening temperature of the glass. this step is to bring the glass to a certain temperature for subsequent tempering. we are tempering glass sheets with thicknesses 2mm, 2.5mm, 3mm, 3.2mm, 4mm, 5mm, 6mm, 8mm, if you need tempering service for other thick tempered glass products, kindly mentioning your thick required in your inquiry 

 

4. Tempering-Quick cooling‌:

Heated glass needs to be cooled quickly, usually through forced convection or injection of cooling media (such as air, water). Rapid cooling will produce different shrinkage rates on the surface and inside of the glass, thereby forming compressive stress and tensile stress, improving the mechanical strength and thermal stability of the glass‌.

5. ‌Inspection and Packaging‌:

Silk Screen Printing Technology Used for Toughened Glass Products: 

 

The silk printing process‌, also known as ‌silk screen printing process‌, is a primary printing method in stencil printing. It uses a silk screen as a plate base, uses photosensitive plate making method to make a screen printing plate with graphics and text, and uses ink to transfer to the substrate through the mesh of the graphic part to form the required pattern‌. In order to press different patterns on the toughened glass surface to meet various real demands, silk screen printed is applied by many toughened glass fabricating factories, and Huide Glass is one of them, we can finish all those manufacturing processes for toughened glass products independently, including cutting, grinding, drilling, silk screen printing, tempering, and packing. 

 

The basic principle of silk screen printing is to use the graphic part of the screen printing plate to allow ink to pass through the mesh, and the non-graphic part to have the mesh impermeable to ink. When printing, pour ink into one end of the screen printing plate, and use a scraper to apply pressure on the ink on the screen printing plate and move it. During the movement, the ink is squeezed by the scraper from the mesh of the graphic part onto the substrate.A certain gap is maintained between the screen printing plate and the substrate, so that the silk screen printing plate generates a reaction force on the scraper through its own tension during printing, ensuring the printing dimensional accuracy and avoiding smearing the substrate‌
