Hi everyone,
You can find more information on our web, so please take a look.
I’m new to the game and get a bit overwhelmed by the level of technicality needed to make useful choice.
I just order from Sofirn on Aliexpress the C8F kit.It includes the lamp, a charger and a battery.
It’s a Sofirn Battery mah Rechargeable li-ion Battery 40A 3.7V.
I trust them to deliver a decent battery for their flashlight but I saw better?, bigger? battery such as :
- Samsung 48G mAh 4.8A
But can’t figure out which one is suitable for the flashlight, I plan to use their charger, any input on that ?
Any help and some insight will be really appreciated.
Thanks for reading,
Vincent
I also recently purchased a C8F and wanted a spare battery. I went with the Samsung 50E. I was looking at post #36 in this thread:
All three of those batteries make good choices in my opinion but the Samsung 30T and Sofirn battery will give a little higher output current due to lower battery resistance. That’s really only a concern if wanting to use the max output for any length of time.
For me I wanted a little more capacity and will only use the max output on occasion so I don’t care if I have slightly diminished output. (I probably won’t notice the difference anyhow).
Also the charger that Sofirn provides works but I wanted something better. My choice was the Miboxer C4 Upgrade. The Miboxer C2- would fit a also.
Do we know which cell Sofirn is using in their batteries?
As far as spare cells, the Samsung 40T might be the best all-around. It will easily handle the current demands of the C8F, while having 33% more runtime than a 30T. The mAh cells might work, but they might be getting into the upper ranges of their current ratings.
I got the kit too & am pleased with the Sofirn also.
Using the Samsung 50E you’ll get a bit more run time but a little less output on Turbo.
Using the Samsung 30T you’ll get a bit less run time but a little more output on Turbo.
The Sofirn battery, as Lightbringer said…… “works just fine”. :+1:
Delta_V mentioned the Samsung 40T, I don’t have one of those; but as he said….it would be a good one. On par with the Samsung 30T, but 33% more runtime.
Hey that’s great. I think the Samsung 40T is also a good fit. If I could easily find another Sofirn mAh battery, I’d go with that too. A 50E battery should be arriving soon and will have a chance to check that out.
I ended up buying the Miboxer C4 Upgrade charger. I thought it was a good value. I posted a picture of the Sofirn in it here:

Like other lithium-ion batteries, batteries come in both protected and unprotected versions. Unprotected batteries are simply the bare cells without any additional protection, while protected batteries have a built-in protection circuit that helps to prevent overcharging, over-discharging, and short circuits.
It’s important to note that unprotected batteries can be dangerous if not handled properly, so it’s recommended to use protected batteries in most devices. However, unprotected batteries can be useful in certain applications where maximum power output is needed.
Many high-end devices, such as flashlights and vaping devices, are designed specifically for batteries. However, some devices may also be compatible with or other battery types. In addition, Not all batteries are created equal. Some devices may only work with certain brands or types. So be sure to check your device’s specifications before making a purchase.
With these basic concepts in mind, let’s dive deeper into the world of batteries and explore their benefits, top brands, and more.
As a battery expert, I’ve tested and used countless lithium-ion batteries over the years, and batteries continue to impress me with their outstanding performance. Let’s dive into the advantages and disadvantages of these batteries and discuss some important safety considerations.
One of the key advantages of batteries is their larger capacity compared to other lithium-ion batteries. This means they can power devices for longer periods of time and require less frequent charging. They also have a higher discharge rate, making them suitable for high-drain devices like flashlights and electric vehicles.
However, with these advantages come some drawbacks. batteries are larger and heavier than other lithium-ion batteries, which may not be suitable for some devices. They are also more expensive, and not all battery chargers are compatible with them.
Safety should always be a top priority when working with lithium-ion batteries, and batteries are no exception. It’s important to use only high-quality, reputable brands and to avoid overcharging or exposing them to extreme temperatures.
Another safety consideration is the use of protected vs. unprotected batteries, as discussed earlier. If you’re not experienced in handling unprotected batteries, it’s best to stick with the protected type for added safety features.
As we strive towards more sustainable and eco-friendly practices, it’s important to consider the environmental impact of our battery use. While lithium-ion batteries are generally more eco-friendly than traditional disposable batteries, they still require proper disposal or recycling to prevent harmful chemicals from entering the environment. Many battery manufacturers now offer recycling programs for their products, so be sure to look into these options when it’s time to replace your batteries.
